7 Easy Steps to Participate!

  1. Liability forms and Permission Slips: When ordering kits please sign, date and fax a liability form, found in the Forms Library to us at 858-695-9560. The kits will be mailed to the address listed on your registration form. If you want the kits mailed to another address instead, please send the preferred address to us with the liability form.

  2. Selecting a site: Participants select a water monitoring site in the San Diego and Baja California region following the site selection criteria provided by the Watershed Consortium.

  3. Identifying site coordinates: Participants obtain site latitude and longitude (i.e., 32.8982° N / 117.8982° W) from: www.topozone.com or by GPS. Taking pictures and sending them via e-mail is encouraged. If you have pictures but are unable to send them via e-mail please contact us.

  4. Register to participate: Participants register their site and group online.

    Note: when you fill out the registration form you will be asked to provide the Watershed Consortium with your site's latitude and longitude as well as your group's details.

  5. Monitoring: Between September 18th and October 18th, proceed to site and conduct monitoring.

  6. Submitting data: Participants may send-in their completed datasheets to the consortium by e-mail at results@sdcwmc.org or by fax at 619-224-4638. Data sheets are available in our Forms Library.

  7. Receipt of Certificates: School or groups will receive a certificate of participation, a watershed map of San Diego County with sampling sites and a summary of all monitoring results. For community service credit you may fax your information to the Consortium at 619-224-4638.

Bus Transportation

Bus Transportation for schools in San Diego County will be paid through a grant from SDSU. To obtain reimbursement, you must:

  1. Mark that your require transportation on your registration form (if funding is no longer available we will notify you).
  2. Download the Release of Liability Form (San Diego, CA only). Print and complete this form for each participant in your group. Then, fax it to 858-695-9560.
  3. Schedule the water monitoring for a date between September 18, 2006 - October 18, 2006.
  4. Submit an invoice printed on School Letterhead. Download WWMD-TransporationReimbursementInvoice.doc, and save it to your desktop so it's easy to find. Launch MS Word and open the invoice you downloaded. Fill out the necessary areas, print it out on your school letterhead and sign it. The invoice MUST be printed on your school letterhead or it will not be accepted and you will not be reimbursed.
  5. Submit a Data Form (see Forms Library) with the water monitoring test results with your invoice.
  6. Payment will not be made without a copy of your test results.
