San Diego Watersheds

Join us for the World Water Monitoring event from March 22nd to December 10th. Click here to find out how you can participate and how you learn about the water quality of San Diego.

A watershed is a land area from which water drains into a receiving body of water. Receiving bodies of water can include streams, lakes, wetlands, estuaries and groundwater. Watersheds come in different shapes and sizes, and local watersheds are subwatersheds (or subbasins) of larger, regional ones.

If you need help selecting a collection site to participate, click a region on the map below.
